Tax clerk / accountant

We are looking for an experienced tax clerk/accountant (m/f/d) in the areas of bookkeeping, preparation of annual financial statements and tax returns and possibly in the auditing of annual statements.

Financial accountant

Payroll clerk / accountant

We are looking for a dedicated payroll accountant to join our team to start as soon as possible for the independent processing of payslips, as well as preparing the bookkeeping for our clients, independent postings and account assignments of ongoing business transactions. Ideally you have already professional experience in the areas of income taxation and social security law. You should have a good knowledge of taxation and DATEV, proficiency in English and MS Office applications.

Intensive internship for young professionals

Parallel to the academic semesters, we offer an intensive internship on March 1st and September 1st. Although we do without the overtime cult of large companies, we assume the will and the ability to do four hours of concentrated and dedicated work twice a day.

In order to qualify for an internship with us, you must either have completed a university degree with an above-average degree or you are in the last year of your studies at a university of applied sciences with an above-average basic degree.

Please refrain from applying if you are not absolutely sure about the basics of double-entry bookkeeping – we will teach you everything else during the six months of your internship.

For graduates of our intensive internship with above-average performance, there is the opportunity to continue working as a student assistant after the internship. While you are writing your thesis, you will be supervised by us (however, this only applies to topics in the field of accounting and auditing).

Please read the following description carefully and answer the question honestly as to whether you are willing to do more than a “normal” compulsory internship.

Course of the six-month intensive internship

It is our aim that you later look back fondly on your internship with us. For this reason alone, we understand very well that interns are neither unpaid copy workers nor full-time coffee makers. But we also don’t want our internships to be understood as part-time student jobs.

To put it bluntly: our consideration consists primarily of know-how transfer. Yes, we pay a fee that increases in line with your productivity and stands up to many comparisons. No, unfortunately a carefree life in Berlin cannot be financed with this.

Our internships usually last six months and are made up of three modules that build on one another:

Module 1 (1st month)

Gain an insight into the world of auditors and tax consultants. Look over our shoulder without standing in our way. Be punctual, friendly, helpful and make sure your shoes are shined.

Module 2 (2nd & 3rd month)

You have successfully completed the tasks of module 1, congratulations! In module 2, you will be trained in a specific area of responsibility that meets both your strengths and our current requirements: This can be research into tax assessments, assistance with annual audits, exploring the depths of sales tax law or helping to draft one of our audit reports. Show that you enjoy learning and show initiative when working out new connections.

Module 3 (4th, 5th & 6th month)

With our help, you will be guided step by step to independently completing the work that you learned about in the second module. Practice the balance between asking questions in good time and completing tasks delegated to you on your own responsibility. By the way: We recruit employees almost exclusively from the ranks of those who have completed all three modules with us.

What do we expect from our interns?

1. Talent!

We expect neither 1a certificates nor a straight "career path". But you have some skill or personality trait that YOU would like to flourish in a professional environment of committed service providers.

2. Fun with numbers and, more importantly, enthusiasm for the realities they reflect.

"Nothing is more thrilling as economy". During an internship in the field of auditing, you will have to deal with numbers, balance sheets and also accounting records (!) on a daily basis, which, by the way, is less boring than it sounds. The "consulting" in our company name refers exclusively to consulting services in the field of taxes and accounting; the jet set with a smart briefcase between New York and Tokyo is typically not one of the tasks of our interns. Anyone doing an internship in a chemistry laboratory should be able to read chemical formulas. An intern at a WP company should also be able to do the (small) basics of bookkeeping - we'll teach you the rest (so flip through the Gabler scripts again before the interview!).

3. The joy of learning and the courage to be challenged.

You will be fully integrated into our team; we still have a 40-hour week and no, our interns don't have flextime. It would be nice if you are familiar with MS Office (Macros are not Tuscan noodles) and speak at least one foreign language in a business-like manner (no kidding). If you are convinced that you can contribute something extraordinary - whatever it is - then let us know Even with "unusual" CVs and training courses and present your "USP". Convince us that you meet the three required criteria.

Frequently asked questions about the intensive internship

My study regulations provide for an internship period of 20 weeks. Can I end the internship after five months?

Answer: No, because the extensive training material can hardly be mastered during this time.

How much is the remuneration?

Answer: The remuneration is paid out progressively and totals EUR 3,100, i.e. EUR 517/month. If you already have exceptionally good knowledge of accounting and do not need any further basic training there, your monthly remuneration can be increased by up to 250 euros from the 2nd module (within the 40 regular hours per week) and, if necessary, by working overtime (the most competitors are not remunerated separately).

Why is the remuneration not paid out on a straight-line basis?

Answer: On the one hand, the increasing level of remuneration reflects your productivity progress. On the other hand, we do not want to offer any financial incentive, especially for interns from outside, to combine an extended stay in Berlin with a mandatory internship.
Thirdly, we would also like to give you a financial incentive to complete the internship over six months, even if the minimum duration according to your study regulations should have been completed.

Other and larger Audit companies offer a significantly higher remuneration. Why are you paying so little?

Answer: While we offer our interns a 40-hour week, substantial overtime without compensation is expected, particularly at the large companies. If you convert the remuneration to the number of hours worked, we are more than competitive. In addition, you should decide for yourself how broad your range of experience will be if you intern in one of many departments in a large company.
If, as a trainee, you see an internship primarily as a means of earning money instead of gaining experience, you shouldn't be surprised if companies are increasingly misusing internships as underpaid temporary work.

Does your company have a dress code?

Answer: Yes. As a provider of upscale services in the financial sector, suits with ties or pant suits or costumes are customary in the industry. Stop by any branch of a major bank and you will get an impression of what kind of clothing you will be wearing for your internship.
The end of the week is usually designed as a casual Friday.

As an intern, can I come along to external appointments?

Answer: Usually, we try to take you with us to our clients from the second month onwards. However, the prerequisite is that you have significantly increased your accounting knowledge under our guidance in the first month of the internship and that you have exemplary manners.
